Historical Car Club Run to Injune 16th June 2024

Sunday 16th June – Injune – 
PLEASE NOTE SUNDAY RUN TOGETHER WITH A MEETING AT INJUNE.

RUN: ROMA – MITCHELL VIA WOMBLEBANK GAP ROAD – INJUNE

Please note: Roma to Mitchell is 87 Km. Mitchell to Injune via this route is 166 Km. Injune to Roma is 89 Km. The total kms will be 342 kms.
The run will start at the Big Rig travel Roma/Mitchell & onto Injune via Forest Vale Road & Womblebank Gap Road. Along the way we will be looking and stopping at Wild Dog Fence, Maranoa River Flying Fox & Major Mitchell’s Campsite interesting history along the way towards Injune. Don’t forget hats/water/sunblock/chairs, and your morning tea.

Arrive at the Big Rig by 8 am
Depart by 8.15 a.m. and travel towards Mitchell
Turn right before the township of Mitchell onto Mitchell – Forest Vale Road; travel 16 km you will note the Wild Dog Fence. Travel another 17 km and turn left at the Major Mitchell Campsite area. Major Mitchell’s Campsite travels 3kms to Major Mitchell’s Campsite on the river. Great history here with all the information boards and shelter/toilets
Approx. 9.30 to 10.30 Morning tea at this camp area. Please bring your thermos & biscuits
Depart by 10.30 am travel back out to Forest Vale Road turning left
Travel 34 km to Maranoa River Flying Fox on your left. Cross the river – Make sure you stop & look.
Travel 45 Kms to Womblebank Gap Road turn right here
Travel 43 km NOTE Wild Dog Fencing then continue for 8 km to Injune township
Arrive at Injune by noon approximately
12 to 1 pm – BBQ Lunch is being catered by the Injune Men’s Shed with members to bring cash with them to pay $7 per head
GENERAL MEETING TO BE HELD AT THE MEN’S SHED 1 pm to 2 pm
Afternoon tea will be provided free to members by RHMC. Injune Men’s Shed doing the catering.
Leave Injune by approximately 3 pm to depart for Roma or at your leisure.

Join us for free Zumba and Line Dancing. Although registration is preferable you can just come along. We do need a minimum of 5 registrations so each class can go ahead.

Zumba is an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow dance workout that’s great for anybody and any age. All are welcome and no experience is necessary! Register for free by calling Maranoa Regional Council’s Customer Service team on 1300 007 662.

When visiting Injune, make sure to drop into our accredited Visitor Information Centre—you’ll be glad you did!

Finding the Visitor Information Centre is easy, as it’s located right on the main highway in the middle of town. The building is one of Injune’s newer icons, conveniently close to shopping, with the local library in the same complex. The log cabin-style centre is surrounded by a spacious park area featuring a playground for children, a water fountain to fill your bottles, and an amenities block at the rear. There is plenty of parking available behind the complex.

Pop in for a complimentary cup of tea or coffee and relax on the veranda. Inside the centre, you’ll find original local artworks on display, a selection of souvenirs, and a bookshop. It’s an excellent opportunity not to be missed. Enjoy a chat with our friendly volunteers who keep the doors open seven days a week, excluding some public holidays.

Our volunteers love making your trip more enjoyable by answering your questions and sharing their extensive knowledge about our unique area in southern central Queensland. Additionally, our helpful Tourism Administrative Officer is always available to assist you with information and ensure your travels are as pleasurable as possible.

Visiting the Injune Tourist Information Centre is a great way to start your journey, providing you with everything you need to explore and enjoy our beautiful region.
